How can I be sure this website is protected?

You will notice a closed lock in the status bar at the bottom (IE 6) or top (IE 7) of your browser.  If you hover your mouse pointer over that lock, you should see a message that says "Security Report" or "SSL Secured" for Internet Explorer or something similar for other internet browsers.
